How it works

Three steps. No servers involved.

1 — Drop your video

Pick any video file from your device. MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI, MKV — Clipr reads it directly in memory. Nothing is transmitted anywhere.

2 — Set your cut points

Drag the start and end handles on the timeline to frame your clip precisely. Preview playback updates in real time as you adjust.

3 — Download instantly

Click Trim & Download. The clip is encoded in your browser using the MediaRecorder API and saved straight to your device in seconds.

Why Clipr

Built for speed and privacy, not features nobody asked for.

Zero uploads

Your video never leaves your machine. There's no server to breach, no cloud storage to audit. Privacy is structural, not a promise.

Instant results

No queue. No "your file is processing" spinner that takes five minutes. Browser-native APIs mean the result is ready in the time it takes to re-encode.

Frame-accurate trimming

The timeline scrubber snaps to milliseconds. Set exact cut points without re-encoding the whole file or losing quality from multiple compression passes.

No watermarks, ever

Free means free. Clipr doesn't stamp your clip, lock export behind a paywall, or ask you to upgrade for HD output. No catch.

All major formats

MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI, MKV — if your browser can play it, Clipr can trim it. Export to MP4 or WebM depending on where the clip is headed.

Works offline

Once the page is loaded, Clipr needs no internet connection. Take it anywhere — no Wi-Fi required to trim a clip before your presentation.

Where Clipr shines

Built for anyone who needs a clean clip, fast.

Social

Cut clips for Instagram Reels, TikTok & YouTube Shorts

Trim the dead air from the start of a screen recording or cut the perfect 15-second moment from a longer take. No re-encoding chains, no quality loss from extra compression passes.

Work

Chop Zoom & Teams recordings before sharing

Remove the awkward "is this recording?" intro and the goodbye ritual from a one-hour meeting. Send colleagues only the five minutes that matter, without uploading confidential content to a third-party service.

Gaming

Extract highlight clips from long sessions

Pull a clutch moment out of a three-hour OBS recording. Set your in and out points precisely, export as MP4, and share straight to Discord — done in under a minute.

Privacy

Trim sensitive footage without risking exposure

Dashcam footage, security clips, or anything with personal details you don't want on a stranger's server. Clipr processes everything locally — zero risk of leaks.

Education

Prep lecture recordings and tutorial clips

Students and educators can trim recordings, extract relevant segments, and keep file sizes manageable — all without a subscription to Premiere or a 500 MB install.

FAQ

Questions about the fastest free video trimmer online.

Yes, completely. Clipr is free to use with no account, no subscription, and no watermark. The tool is supported by non-intrusive ads on the page, not by charging users or degrading the output. Full HD export is free. Always.
No. Clipr is entirely client-side. Your video is read directly from your device into browser memory using the File API. No byte of your footage is transmitted to any server at any point — not for processing, not for analytics, not for storage. You can even disconnect from the internet after loading the page and it will still work.
Clipr supports any format your browser can decode: MP4 (H.264/H.265), WebM (VP8/VP9), MOV, AVI, and MKV in most modern browsers. Export is available as MP4 or WebM. For maximum compatibility across devices, choose MP4 as the export format.
Yes. The timeline handles are draggable to millisecond precision and the time pills display HH:MM:SS.mmm format. For videos with a known exact timestamp, you can also scrub the preview to the precise frame you want before confirming your cut points. Precision depends on the source video's keyframe interval for zero-re-encode cuts.
The MediaRecorder-based export re-encodes the selected segment at the browser's native quality level, which is typically very high for modern browsers. For lossless remux (no re-encode), the result is identical to the source. Minor re-encoding may occur at cut boundaries to ensure clean start/end frames.
Clipr doesn't impose a hard file size limit — it's constrained only by your device's available memory. In practice, files up to 4–8 GB work smoothly on a modern laptop. For very large files, consider trimming to a shorter segment first. The tool streams the file rather than loading the whole thing into RAM at once.
Currently Clipr exports one clip per operation. To extract multiple segments, trim and download the first clip, then adjust the handles and export again — the source video stays loaded so there's no need to re-import. Multi-clip export in a single pass is on the roadmap.
Yes. Clipr is fully responsive and works on iOS Safari 15+ and Android Chrome. Touch dragging on the timeline handles works just like desktop. Processing large files on mobile is slower due to device performance — for best results on phones, trim clips under 500 MB.
